Books & Bees Festival returns April 12
If you love books and nature, don’t miss the fourth annual Books and Bees festival on Saturday, April 12, from 1-5 p.m. on the lawn just outside the Bee Cave Public Library, 4000 Galleria Parkway.
There will be author talks, story times, nature activities, live music and a honey-tasting contest. This event is free to attend and open to all ages. There will be an opening ceremony and welcome from 1-1:30 p.m. with remarks from Mayor Kara King.
The event will include a honey-tasting contest and a bee information session, hands-on nature activities and story time for kids, author meet-and-greets, a writers’ panel with authors Nikki Loftin and Wendi Aarons, a Texas history presentation by author Stephen Hardin and a live music performance by Joe McDermott.

State of Lakeway meeting Thursday
Lakeway Mayor Tom Kilgore and City Manager Joseph Molis will present a State of the City meeting from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, at City Hall, 1102 Lohmans Crossing Road.

Comprehensive Plan meeting April 15
The city of Lakeway will host a third public meeting to discuss the working update to the city’s Comprehensive Plan. Your feedback is important to the document, which helps guide Lakeway’s future for years to come.
The meeting will be from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, at City Hall, 1102 Lohmans Crossing Road.

Shredding event offered April 11
Some Frost financial centers in the Austin area are offering the community a chance to have document shredded, with service provided by Shred-It.
Guests are welcome to bring up to 10 containers with any paper products to be shredded, and there is no need to remove paper clips or staples. Paper documents can remain in envelopes. However, the shred event is not able to accommodate things like cardboard boxes, X-rays, CDs or DVDs, hard drives or pill bottles. Frost will have treats available to participants.
An event in Bee Cave will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, April 11, at the Lake Travis Financial Center, 12532 FM 2244.

Do you have questions or concerns for the Lakeway Police Department. Or just want to say hello? Meet up at Coffee with a Cop at Whataburger, 2011 RM 620 South, from 8-10 a.m. on Thursday, April 12.
It’s a great opportunity to meet police officers over a cup of coffee and to enjoy a relaxed, friendly conversation.

3rd meeting set on Comprehensive Plan
The city of Lakeway will host a third public meeting as it updates its Comprehensive Plan, the vision for Lakeway’s future.
The meeting will include an interactive exercise for participants, as well as a discussion on the future land use map, the thoroughfare plan, and the city’s identity and implementation strategies. Bring your questions and help participate in updating the document.

Police foundation fundraiser April 26
The Bee Cave Police Benevolent Foundation’s annual gala will take place from 6-10 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, at the Star Hill Ranch. The fundraiser recognizes and supports the Bee Cave Police Department

Get free home fire risk assessment
Is your property safe from a possible wildfire? Lake Travis-area residents can reach out to Lake Travis Fire Rescue for a free home risk assessment at Wildfire@LTFR.org, and a fire specialist will walk you through ways to limit fuels and risks on your property.
In addition, Lake Travia Fire Rescue recently presented to the Lakeway City Council its Crisis Preparedness Report, which details for preparing for a disaster. The report can be viewed by visiting bit.ly/4b0b1dE.

Input sought for Butler Park
The city of Lakeway is seeking input on two proposed options for the development of Butler Park in Rough Hollow.
The city is exploring whether or not restricting partial park access to allow the school district to utilize certain spaces throughout the school day is a good idea or not.

Celebrate Earth Day at library
To celebrate Earth Day and inspire the next generation to care for our planet, Reach for the Stars ATX is hosting a fun, hands-on “Being Kind to the Earth” workshop on Saturday, April 12, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Lake Travis Community Library.
This free event will feature a special guest presentation by Stephanie Threinen Herzog, the public information liaison for the Lakeway MUD. Designed for kids of all ages, this annual event will include inspiring book readings, fun activities and practical tips on how to take care of the Earth and conserve water in our community.

Lakeway Sings offers ‘Getting to Know You’
Fitting into a new community can be complicated. Lakeway Sings (formerly Lakeway SingAlong) explores that emotional acclimation in its 24th annual spring show, “Getting to Know You,” at the Lakeway Activity Center on Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26.
Doors open for the dinner show performances at 6 p.m., with dinner served at 6:30 and the show following. BYOB, of course, and tables of eight or 10 are available.
Tickets start at $45 and go on sale to Activity Center members at the Lakeway Activity Center at 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 18. Open sales start March 25. Tickets also will be available online at lakeway-tx.gov/activity-catalog.

ArtWalk set for May 16-18
The city of Lakeway will host ArtWalk, a free, three-day event to showcase art, music, community and culture in the city. The event will run from Friday, May 16, through Sunday, May 18.
The event will begin with a happy hour at Adams Galleries and a free performance at TexArts on Friday. On Saturday, visit several local artists in area parks and at various art studios, with a special student exhibit at the City Hall Art Gallery. You’ll be able to experience over 20 artists as you stroll through Hamilton Greenbelt and the Hurst Creek Sculpture Garden, along with the opportunity to visit more than 20 studios and businesses opening their doors to the public to exhibit their artwork.
End your art-filled experience Sunday with a visit to more art studios, and a special performance by a Masterpiece Concert Series Concert at the Lakeway Activity Center from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
