You can’t go anywhere without finding the Texas Tech Red Raiders these days, even on the cover of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine. The school announced the news on Monday.
Front and center on the magazine is star linebacker Ben Roberts, who will be key to the defense continuing what it began last season. Joining the Big 12 Championship Game’s Most Outstanding Player are head coach Joey McGuire, Board of Regents Chairman Cody Campbell, Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt, and general manager James Blanchard. The four leading men are what the magazine calls “the modern college football machine.”
Ben Roberts is heading into his fifth season with Texas Tech. He arrived in 2022 and played in 42 games over 3+ seasons, only playing in two games in his true freshman season. The former Freshman All-American is the NCAA active leader in tackles.
This is McGuire’s second time to grace the cover of the magazine. The first time came prior to the 2022 season, his first year on the job in Lubbock. He was joined by UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor. Both were former state championship-winning head coaches at the high school level in Texas. Texas Tech also appeared on the cover in 2016 with head coach Kliff Kingsbury and quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
As pointed out by Texas Tech, Campbell and Hocutt are the first administrators and non-coaches to appear on the cover. The magazine will hit newstands this summer, and you can purchase the issue in advance on the Texas Football website.
