The Texas Department of Public Safety said the truck tractor traveled across the north service road, went through a fence, and struck multiple parked semitrailers along the fenceline of a private property.

The Volvo sustained significant damage.

The driver, 77-year-old Wayne Ollis Bald Knob, Arkansas, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Amarillo Northwest Texas Hospital, where he later died.

The road conditions were clear and dry with a posted speed limit of 75 mph, and Ollis had been wearing a seatbelt. The crash remains under investigation.
