The NBA’s All-Defensive teams were awarded Friday night, and one Houston Rocket narrowly missed the cut. Despite receiving five first-team votes and 36 second-team votes, Amen Thompson didn’t make either team. He and Stephon Castle (Spurs) were tied as the first players off the list. Dyson Daniels (Hawks) was the player who just got in ahead of the duo, with nine first-team votes and two second-team votes.
Victor Wembanyama (Spurs), Chet Holmgren (Thunder), Ausar Thompson (Pistons), Rudy Gobert (Timberwolves) and Derrick White (Celtics) made the All-Defensive First Team. The second team consisted of Scottie Barnes (Raptors), Cason Wallace (Thunder), Bam Adebayo (Heat), OG Anunoby (Knicks) and the aforementioned Daniels. Jabari Smith Jr. was the only other Rockets player to receive a vote, as the former Auburn forward received one second-team vote.
