Amarillo reader recalls challenge buying smart phone for elderly dad | Opinion

I would like to share about an experience I recently had at a big-box chain store.

What I was doing there was getting a backup phone for my 83-year-old father and I found out while I was there that there are no simple smartphones that just have internet for research and text and calling all of the smartphones nowadays are preloaded with games and social media thankfully I was able to disable all of the things that my father does not use before mailing the phone to him.

It’s sad that we are in the technology age and the older generation is just trying to keep up and they get frustrated when things dont work the way theyd like them to work.

I wish we could go back to the 90s when things were simpler and there were not as many people trying to take advantage of the older generation.  – Will Spell, Amarillo
