Five people, including four El Paso Police Department officers, were injured in a crash on Interstate 10 West in Central El Paso, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 1:10 p.m. Monday, July 7, on I-10 West near Copia Street, El Paso Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Robert Gomez said in a news alert. The cause of the crash was not released.
The four officers and the other person, whose names have not been released, were taken to hospitals for treatment. They remain in stable condition, the news alert states.
The officers’ families have been notified, the news alert states.
El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations unit is investigating the crash.
“At this time, no further information is available, and we appreciate the community’s support and patience,” the police news alert stated.
All lanes of I-10 West near the crash are closed. Traffic is being diverted off I-10 West at the US 54 interchange, according to Texas Department of Transportation officials, who posted on X. Additionally, all lanes on Gateway West Boulevard at Raynolds Street are closed to traffic.
No further information has been released.
