2025 Texas UIL boys HS soccer playoffs: Saginaw defeats Bel Air with late goal

The Bel Air High School boys soccer team lost, 1-0, to Saginaw on Tuesday in Midland in the regional final of the Class 5A, Division 2 playoffs.

Saginaw scored the winner with about 20 seconds left in the match on a goal by Adrian Hinojosa. Saginaw also eliminated El Paso’s Burges HS, 4-1, in last week’s regional semifinals.

Bel Air finishes the season 21-3-2 and won playoff games against Andress, Wichita Falls Memorial and Argyle. The Highlanders failed to score a goal for the first time all season and in three previous playoff games the Highlanders scored 10 goals.

The Highlanders were looking to reach the state semifinals for the third time since 2019.

Saginaw advances to the state semifinals to play either Highland Park or Poteet.

“We didn’t play well, we missed a lot of shots, we had had opportunities,” Bel Air coach Sergio Delgado said.

With Bel Air eliminated, Americas remains the lone El Paso team left in the playoffs and will play Friday in the Class 5A, Division 1 semifinals in boys soccer.
