Two people died in a motorcycle crash on Loop 375 in El Paso’s Lower Valley, authorities said.
The crash happened about 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, on the west lanes of the border highway near the Yarbrough Drive exit, El Paso Police Department and Texas Department of Transportation officials said.
Police confirmed two people died in the crash involving a motorcycle. El Paso police’s Special Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating the wreck. No further information has been released.
Family members identified the people who died in the crash as Alfredo and Miriam Dela Torre in a GoFundMe page created to help the family with funeral expenses.
“Alfredo and Miriam Dela Torre were the most selfless people, always welcoming everyone with open arms regardless of any situation,” the family wrote on the fundraising page. “Yesterday, they were tragically killed in a motorcycle accident, leaving our family grieving beyond words. Alfredo and Miriam were the foundation of our family — loving, hardworking, and always putting others before themselves.
“They brought warmth, laughter, and strength into every room they entered, and their absence leaves a space that can never be filled.”
The page has raised more than $13,000 in about four hours.
The crash closed Loop 375 and the frontage road in the area to traffic for nearly 12 hours. The lanes were reopened about 6:15 a.m. Monday, July 13, TxDOT officials said.
