One person died and five others were injured in a head-on crash on US 385 in Oldham County Saturday night, authorities said.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2015 Nissan Armada, towing a trailer, was traveling south on US 385, south of the Hartley County line, around 11:40 p.m. Saturday, June 27. At that time, a 2018 Volkswagen Atlas was traveling north in the southbound lane.
The Volkswagen struck the Nissan and its trailer, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The Volkswagen then left the roadway and rolled over.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as Toby Robbins, 47, of Pottsboro, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries he sustained in the crash.
Three passengers, Christina Robbins, 46, a 14-year-old girl, and Adam Copeland, 18, all of Pottsboro, were taken to Amarillo Northwest Texas Hospital with minor injuries. A 15-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. All five occupants had been wearing seat belts.
The Volkswagen’s driver, identified as Joaquin Soto, 22, male, of Pharr, Texas, was also wearing a seat belt and was taken to Amarillo Northwest Texas Hospital with minor injuries.
The crash took place in a 75 mph zone with dry and clear conditions, and it remains under investigation.
