ZANESVILLE — Tied at 6 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Ja’ckye McBride sent home Kayson Hoff with the game-winning run with a sacrifice fly as Zanesville edged visiting Utica, 7-6, in a Licking County League crossover game on April 23 at Jay Payton Field.
Solomon Norris had a two-run double and Maddox Mohler doubled home the tying run in the sixth for Zanesville (7-7). Hoff pitched the final inning to get the win after Makhi Murray went the first six. Only two of Murray’s runs were earned.
New Lexington 6, Tri-Valley 2: Carter Hahn drove in two runs with two singles and Carter Simpson scattered five hits in a complete game as the Panthers pulled away for an MVL crossover win at home
Simpson struck out two and walked two, yielding no earned runs. Paul Stenson had two singles as New Lex (6-6), winners of four of its last five, scored four times with two outs in the second. Two came on infield error as it never trailed.
Carter Williams struck out seven in 4 1/3 innings for Tri-Valley (6-6), but walked six. He allowed two earned runs.
Sheridan 14, West Muskingum 3: Logan Jones’ double and single netted three RBIs in the first two innings as the Generals (10-5) rolled to an MVL crossover win in Falls Township.
James Solomon added three singles with two RBIs and Cole Cashdollar singled twice with three RBIs for Sheridan, which had 10 hits, drew five walks and didn’t commit an error. T.J Connors went the distance and struck out seven.
Grady Dollings, Cooper West and Ethan Loyd had two singles for West (8-7).
John Glenn 5, Maysville 3: Four pitchers combined on a four-hitter for the Muskies, who won for the fifth time in seven games in an MVL crossover in Newton Township.
Carter Merry had two of John Glenn’s seven hits, both singles. Kayden McDonald had a pair of RBIs and Zane Townsend an RBI double; McDonald pitched four innings with four strikeouts to get the win.
Bryce Fisher had a double for Maysville, which got five two-hit, shutout innings from Tre Butcher in relief.
Crooksville 6, River View 2: Jace Thompson fired a two-hitter and drove in two runs with two singles to pace the Ceramics in an MVL crossover conquest in McLuney.
Brody Cottrell added two singles with two RBIs and Kole Dennis doubled for Crooksville; Brogan Shrimplin pitched a complete game and had one of the Black Bears’ hits.
Rosecrans 7, Miller 3: Haiden Omen struck out eight in five innings and drove in three runs for the Bishops (7-4) in a Mid-State League-Cardinal Division win in the Hemlock outskirts.
Frankie Palandrani added a double and Coen Grandstaff and Jacobie Balo had two singles and drove in runs for Rosecrans, which didn’t have an error.
Philo 6, Coshocton 4: Jack Lincicome had the go-ahead RBI double in the sixth inning, and Wyatt Tysinger pitched 2 2/3 innings of shutout relief to get the win for the Electrics in an MVL crossover at Lake Park.
K.J. Philip tripled and singled and Garrett Tom and Lincicome doubled and singled for Philo (6-7), which scored three times in the sixth to overcome a 4-3 deficit.
Clayton Watson and Jace Coffman had two singles for Coshocton (6-9).
Softball
Crooksville 4, River View 3: Elyse Baker hit a solo homer to break a tie game in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Ceramics (9-10) won their third straight game.
Mylin Driggs drove in a run and stole home for Crooksville, while Baker also tossed three innings of shutout relief to get the win.
Hayley Hall took the loss for River View.
Coshocton 3, Philo 2: Paiten Gambill scored the game-winning run in the bottof the seventh inning, while Savannah Gambill pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts and had a double and single for the Skins in an MVL crossover win at home.
Mallory Stamper’s sacrifice fly tied the game at 2 after Philo took a 2-1 lead in the top of the inning on Parker Hina’s single. Hina finished with three singles and Lexi Charles had a double and pitched 6 1/3 innings for Philo.
John Glenn 8, Maysville 2: Kendall Snider drove home three runs with a homer and double and struck out 16 in a complete game to subdue the hot-hitting Panthers in an MVL crossover in Newton Township.
Morgan Harper slugged a triple and double and Estelle Matheney had a two-run single for John Glenn, which scored four times over the final three innings to pull away.
Lilah Jones’ triple paced Maysville.
Meadowbrook 11, Morgan 1 (5 inn.): Chloe Callahan’s three-run homer was the big blow for the Colts in an MVL crossover win in Byesville.
Addy Sichina twirled a four-hitter with seven strikeouts to get the win. Laney Kangas had a pair of singles for Morgan.
Tri-Valley 6, New Lexington 4: Megan Kozusko fired 3 2/3 innings of two-hit shutout relief for the visiting Scotties in a comeback win against the host Panthers in MVL crossover play.
Ally Peterson broke a 4-all tie with a two-out RBI single in a three-run fourth, which followed Gerran Matthews’ two-run single two batters earlier.
Caroline Dupler slugged a three-run homer and Jorja Burkhart cracked two doubles and a single for New Lex, which led 4-1 after two innings.
Sheridan 14, West M 5: Avery Hall drilled three home runs and singled home in a six RBI effort for the Generals, who scored seven times in the fourth inning to break a 4-all tie in an MVL crossover in Falls Township.
Hayley Clifton and Riley Nicely also homered for Sheridan (13-4), which had 16 hits. Megan Ranck had three singles and pitched a complete game to get the win.
Fraylee Williams doubled, Daylee Foster had two singles and Gabbi Hammer singled with two RBIs for West (11-6).

Baseball
Hiland 2, Ridgewood 1: The Generals had a 1-0 lead in the third, but the defending state champion Hawks won in a walk-off after Mike Miller scored on a one-out error in an Inter-Valley Conference game in Berlin.
Miller also had an RBI single to tie the game in the fourth. Damon Troyer pitched two shutout innings to get the win.
Maison Kaiser worked around eight hits in a complete game for Ridgewood (9-6), throwing 52 of his 79 pitches for strikes. Andrew Kinsey had a pair of singles and stole a base.
Softball
River View 3, New Philadelphia 2: Haylee Hall twirled a complete game, and Kelsey McClellan had the go-ahead RBI single in a three-run fifth as the Lady Bears beat the rain and came back for a nonleague win at Ron Tisko Field.
Ridgewood 11, Hiland 0 (5 inn.): Jayden Jaras struck out nine in a one-hitter and had a double and two singles for the visiting Generals (15-3) in an IVC rout in Berlin.
Kelsey Schrock drove in three runs and Alyza Fender plated three with a double and two singles to power Ridgewood’s 15-hit explosion.
Ports. Notre Dame 9, Sheridan 2: Lakelyn Haas and Megan Ranck hit solo homers in a losing effort for the Generals in a nonleague game on the road.
Nova Carpenter added two singles for Sheridan, which had seven hits. Adee Fleegle pitched four innings to take the loss.
The Titans, who had five extra-base hits, improved to 16-2.
April 21 results
Softball
West M 26, Maysville 7: Peyton Brown’s lead-off homer was a sign of things to come for the Tornadoes, who had 24 hits in their rematch with the host Panthers in an MVL-Small School win in Newton Township
Brown’s long ball was part of five RBIs — freshman Fraylee Williams added six — as West scored 12 times in the first two innings to answer the Panthers’ seven runs in their first at-bat.
It piled on 10 more in the third as Calie Smith, Williams and Kyana Bowers also cracked home runs. Brown also tripled as West had 10 extra-base hits off three Panther hurlers. Its top four hitters in the lineup combined for 12 hits and 12 RBIs.
Katelyne Stewart pitched four shutout innings after early struggles to get the win. Only one of her runs allowed were earned.
Lilah Jones’ three singles, Sophie Dennis’ two singles and Josalynn Milatovich’s three-run homer paced Maysville.
Morgan 10, Philo 8: Kaydence Maxwell hit a two-run homer in the top of the sixth broke an 8-all tie as the Raiders came back for a close MVL-Big School road win in Duncan Falls.
Payton Lahmers added a three-run homer and Myka Augenstein had three singles to pace Morgan, which had a 14-5 edge in hits to overcome three errors. Augenstein, who struck out eight, allowed three hits and two earned runs to get the win.
Lia Unger hit a three-run homer for Philo and Dilyn Brown singled home two to pace Philo, which had five hits and committed four errors.
Sheridan 10, Tri-Valley 8 (8 inn.): The Generals produced 17 hits in an MVL-Big School road win at Kenny Wolford Park, as Hayley Clifton homered and singled, and Megan Ranck drove in two runs and struck out 13 in a complete game.
Avery Hall and Lexi Haas had a double and single and combined for three stolen bases; Riley Nicely produced three singles as Sheridan, which trailed 8-3 in the seventh, had seven players with multiple hits.
Ava Neal hit two homers and drove in four and Alivia Reffitt doubled and singled for Tri-Valley.
Meadowbrook 7, New Lex 0: McKenna Boyer fired a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts for the Colts in a shutout win in Byesville.
Corrine Thompson and Gracie Newlon had singles for New Lex, which had four errors.
Crooksville 12, Coshocton 2: Paige Frame drove in four runs on a double and two singles to back a complete game with seven strikeouts from Elyse Baker as the Ceramics (8-10) picked up an MVL-Small School road win.
Mylin Driggs tripled with two singles in the No. 3 spot as Crooksville’s top four batters had 10 hits and scored eight runs. Dalena Rollison had three singles. Jaelyn Allen’s double and single led Coshocton

Tri-Valley 7, Sheridan 4: Ryan Lamonica’s three-run double in a seven-run second inning was a key blow for the Scotties, who got 6 1/3 innings from freshman Gavin Henry for a key MVL-Big School win at Kenny Wolford Park.
Parker Shaffer added a two-run double and Isaiah Cullins a double and single for Tri-Valley, which overcame three errors. Cole Cashdollar had two singles with an RBI and James Solomon an RBI triple for Sheridan.
Crooksville 14, Coshocton 10: Dylan Wood cracked a double and two singles to lead a 13-hit outburst for the visiting Skins in an MVL-Small School game in McLuney.
Wood finished with three RBIs as five Coshocton players had at least two RBIs. Cooper George added three RBIs with two singles and Koltin Tidwell drove home two runs with two singles. J.J. Herman picked up the win in four innings of three-run relief.
Brody Cottrell drove in three runs with a double and Jace Thompson doubled with two RBIs for Crooksville, which trailed 10-0 in the third before pulling within 13-9 in the sixth.
West M 15, Maysville 5 (6 inn.): Braxton Brownrigg’s two-run single in a six-run third inning was the pivotal blow, and Preston Farrell drove in four runs without a hit in the Tornadoes’ MVL-Small School win on the road.
Conner Lynn added three singles and Ethan Loyd had a triple and double out of the No. 9 hole for West, which led 10-3 in the third. Ashton Ansel went the distance in the win, allowing one earned run with four strikeouts.
Kale Riley singled twice and scored twice for Maysville, which had five hits and committed six errors.
Morgan 12, Philo 11: Carter Larrick singled home two runs with two outs in a three-run seventh inning for the visiting Raiders in another MVL-Big School comeback win upriver.
Philo, after trailing 12-9, got within a run in the seventh after Cooper Roush scored on a two-out wild pitch, but K.J. Philip was stranded at second after McGwire Winner struck out the final batter to end the game
Larrick, who also singled twice, finished with five RBIs and Winner drove in three runs with a triple and single. Clayton Blackburn and Lucas Hager had two singles.
K.J. Philip collected three singles, Hunter Hoffer plated three with two singles and Jack Lincicome had two singles and two RBIs for Philo.
Meadowbrook 7, New Lex 5: Kam Winnett twirled four innings of two-hit, shutout relief for the Colts, who overcame a 5-2 deficit in an MVL-Small School win at home.
Jaxson Newlon clubbed a two-run homer and pitched 1 2/3 innings of scorless, one-hit relief for New Lex.

Coshocton 7, Crooksville 6: Down two in the bottom of the eighth, Dylan Wood cleared the bases with a triple to send Coshocton to a comeback win in Muskingum Valley League-Small School play on April 20 at Lake Park.
The big hit came when Crooksville loaded the bases on walks with no outs after scoring twice in the top of the inning on two groudouts to take a 6-4 lead.
Parker Loomis had three singles and drew a walk and Wood added two singles for Coshocton; Cooper George, who allowed two earned runs, went the distance for the win.
Jace Thompson had two singles and Ethan Sprankle three RBIs for Crooksville.
Sheridan 14, Tri-Valley 7: The Generals took advantage of eight errors to back two singles and three RBIs from James Solomon and Camdyn Packer in an MVL-Big School win at home.
Noah Wamer drove in two runs with two singles and also walked three times for Sheridan. Connor Roshon struck out six and walked six to get the win.
OIiver Baker drove in three on a double and single and Quinton Hindel doubled with two RBIs for Tri-Valley.
West M 5, Maysville 3: Grady Dollings cleared the fence, walked twice out of the lead-off spot and struck out 11 in a three-hitter for the Tornadoes, who made the most of four hits in an MVL-Small School win in Falls Township.
Braxton Brownrigg added two RBIs for West.
Bryce Fisher pitched four innings of two-hit, one-run relief for Maysville, which took a 3-2 lead on Kale Riley’s two-run double in the third.
Granville 10, Zanesville 6: The Blue Devils had five errors and walked six batters in a Licking County League-Buckeye Division road loss.
Caleb Hollins cracked two doubles and singled for ZHS; Tyson Kimble singled home two runs. Kayson Hoff allowed three earned runs in 5 1/3 innings.
John Glenn 14, River View 2: Jensen Parry clubbed a three-run triple among his five RBIs, and Carter Merry had a double and two singles to lead a 14-hit Muskie explosion in an MVL-Big School win on the road.
Merry tossed a three-hitter with four strikeouts to get the win. Reid Howard added a two-run double, Owen Edwards, Zane Townsend and Keegan Halsey had two singles. Blaze Klein had an RBI double for River View.
New Lexington 6, Meadowbrook 3: Gus Pearson’s double and two singles accounted for half of the Panthers’ hits in an MVL-Small School win in their friendly confines.
Dalton Waite tossed a two-hitter with six strikeouts to get the win. He allowed one earned runs.
Morgan 3, Philo 2: Lucas Hager pitched a complete game and scored the game-winning run on Witten Schaad’s double in the seventh inning, as the host Raiders won their second straight game.
Hager walked two, struck out none and yielded five hits, but the Raiders didn’t make an error. Aaron Baker had three singles to lead the offense.
Jack Lincicome allowed four hits in four innings with six strikeouts for Philo.
Hiland 14, Ridgewood 2 (5 inn.): Grady Monigold drove in six runs with a pair of homers for the defending state champion Hawks in an Inter-Valley Conference-South Division win in West Lafayette.
Mason Kiser singled twice with an RBI and Caleb Schultz doubled for Ridgewood.
Softball
Crooksville 3, Coshocton 1: Dalena Rollison became the Ceramics’ all-time home run leader and Elyse Baker and Kellie Caton doubled in an MVL-Small School win in McLuney.
Rollison’s two-out, two-run homer in the first inning broke the former record held by teammates Grace Frame and McKenna Headley. It also gave the Ceramics (7-10) a 2-1 lead it wouldn’t relinquish in snapping a six-game losing streak, a win also fueled by Baker’s four-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks.
Jazlene Brown tripled and singled and Mallorie Stamper drove in a run for Coshocton; Savannah Gambill went the distance with seven strikeouts.
John Glenn 10, River View 0: Kendall Snider struck out 11 in a two-hitter for the visiting Muskies in an MVL-Big School win at Ron Tisko Field.
Kinley Porter tripled and singled with two RBIs and Ava Miller plated four with two singles; Addison Babcock and Cora Dever doubled.
West M 15, Maysville 14: The teams combined for six homers and 35 total hits, as the Tornadoes held on after yielding six seventh-inning runs in an MVL-Small School win in Falls Township.
Calie Smith belted a homer and double with three RBIs, Kaley Meddings had three singles and Mireyah Reese two singles with three RBIs for West, which led 15-8 in the sixth. Fraylee Willlams homered and doubled.
Sophie Dennis clubbed two homers and Lily Tumblin and Makalyn Cummings homered and combined for five RBIs for Maysville. Kendall Mitton had four singles and three RBIs.
Sheridan 13, Tri-Valley 1: Hayley Clifton led a potent Generals offense with a double and two singles with four RBIs in an MVL-Big School win in Reading Township.
Megan Ranck added two doubles with three RBIs and was dominant with a two-hitter to get the win. She struck out four and walked one.
Ally Peterson doubled and scored on a Larsyn Holdsworth single for Tri-Valley/
Meadowbrook 11, New Lexington 0: Addy Sichina twirled a shutout and the Colts had 13 hits and took advantage of five Panther errors in an MVL-Small School clash in Perry County.
Addy Schultice homered and doubled with three RBIs for Meadowbrook; Sommer Ginn also homered and doubled, while Addy Sichina
Caroline Dupler’s double paced New Lex, which had five hits.
Philo 11, Morgan 4: The Electrics built a 7-1 lead in the fifth inning as Lia Under launched a three-run homer and Lexi Charles a solo shot in an MVL-Big School win downriver.
Philo had five extra-base hits as Charles, who pitched a complete game, and Cassidy Himes also doubled and singled. Parker Hina singled twice.
Allia Rush clubbed a solo homer and singled for Morgan; Jillian Clouse doubled and singled and Madison VanNess had two singles.
Ridgewood 10, Hiland 0: Addison Lahmers struck out 10 in four two-hit innings and also tripled for the Generals in an IVC mercy of the visiting Hawks.
Jayden Jaras drove in three runs with a double and single to lead the Ridgewood offense.

Track
Mahon shines at Warren: Philo senior Aidan Mahon picked up wins in the high jump (6-5) and long jump (22-10) and placed second in the 200 (:22.8) to lead local combatants at the Warren Invitational.
Morgan’s James Thomas picked up a win in the discus (140-11) and was second in the shot (44-4); Braylon Miller won the 200 (:22.50), Clark Smith won the 800 (2:13.1).
Morgan’s Ava Davis won the 400 (1:03.8) and Philo’s Aubree DeLong took the 100 hurdles (:16.02) in the girls meet, while Philo’s 4×100 relay of DeLong, Alivia Schoonover, Tawny Gottke and Halli Harris also won.
New Lexington’s Ava Snedeker took the high jump.
Baseball
Sheridan 15, Circleville 11: Cole Cashdollar drove in three runs with three doubles and Tandon Gramlich plated three with three singles for the Generals in a nonleague win on the road.
Sheridan outscored the Tigers, 14-1, in the final two innings to overcome a 10-1 deficit. Noah Wamer pitched two one-hit, shutout innings of relief for the win.
Zanesville 4, Philo 2: Caleb Hollins clubbed a triple and single and Kayson Hoff sent home the go-ahead run with a two-run single in the Blue Devils’ nonleague win at Jay Payton Field.
Maddox Mohler tossed a complete game to get the win. Solomon Norris added a double.
K.J. Philip had two singles and Cooper Roush doubled in a run for Philo, which saw four pitchers pitch at least an inning.
Ridgewood 8, Heath 4: The Generals scored five times in the second inning to back 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief and two RBIs from Logan Ridenbaugh in a nonleague road win.
Jace McQueen, Caleb Schultz and Jackson Cabot had two singles for Ridgewood, which trailed 3-0.
Morgan 14, Marietta 8: Witten Schaad drove in three runs with a double and two singles for the Raiders, who snapped an eight-game losing streak in a nonleague win at home.
McGwire Winner and Carter Larrick drove in three runs and Casen Foley tripled for Morgan. Casen Foley got the win in two innings of relief.
Maysville 9, Belmont Union Local 1: Tre Butcher pitched four innings of scoreless relief and drove in two runs to pace the Panthers in a nonleague win in Newton Township.
Kale Riley added a triple and Trevor Hague a double and single for Maysville, which scored nine unanswered runs after trailing 1-0 in the fourth.
Strasburg 7, Coshocton 6 (8 inn.): The Tigers scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a Brody Baughman single with one out in a nonleague game on the road.
Cooper George doubled in two runs with a triple and two singles and Calan Shaw doubled for Coshocton. Dylan Wood pitched seven innings with six strikeouts.
Lakewood 12, John Glenn 5: Owen Edwards had a double and single and scored three times in a losing cause for the Muskies in a nonleague clash in Hebron.
Carter Merry and Reid Howard added doubles for John Glenn.
Softball
Ridgewood 3, Coshocton 0: Addison Lahmers fired a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts and Brittleigh Bates had three of the Generals’ six hits in a nonleague win in West Lafayette.
Jayden Jaras sent home two runs with a double in the fourth inning to break a scoreless game. Bates, who had one of the team’s three doubles, singled in a run one inning later.
Savannah Gambill struck out eight and walked none for Coshocton, allowing three earned runs. Jazlene Brown’s single accounted for the Skins’ only offense.
John Glenn 8, 13, Claymont 4, 7: Addison Babcock belted two homers in the opener and Kendall Snider struck out 12 in a complete game, while Bella Daniels had four singles in the nightcap in a nonleague sweep in Uhrichsville.
Snider also homered in Game 1; Delaney Bell pitched a complete game and slugged a double with two singles in the nightcap. Kinley Porter blasted a solo homer.
Maysville 12, Cambridge 11: Lily Tumblin cracked a homer, doubled and drove in four runs for the Panthers in a nonleague win against the host Cats at Cambridge City Park.
Freshman Evee Matthews added two doubles and two singles and Brooklyn Toler a double and two singles with two RBIs for Maysville. Ava Willey pitched 2 2/3 innings of one-run relief.
Morgan 10, Marietta 8: Myka Augenstein cracked a three-run homer and Melena Mayle singled in two runs in a five-run second inning as the Raiders rolled to a home win against the visiting Tigers.

Whitehouse Anthony Wayne 8, Tri-Valley 0: Alivia Reffitt’s double was one of two hits for the Scotties in a nonleague loss on the road.
Anthony Wayne had 13 hits, of which seven went for extra bases.
