Why T.J. Houshmandzadeh was at Bengals mandatory minicamp

Former Cincinnati Bengals wideout T.J. Houshmandzadeh was at mandatory minicamp this past week.

As fans have come to expect, Houshmandzadeh was seen around second-year wideout Jermaine Burton, a guy he’s been closely involved with since before last year’s draft.

What’s interesting here, though, is the why behind Houshmandzadeh’s appearance.

According to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, Houshmandzadeh was merely passing through as he goes about important NFL work:

“Houshmandzadeh was in town because the NFL sent him to talk to the club about the dos and don’ts of gambling. He’s headed to Chicago with the same message for the Bears Wednesday. That message is also vintage Housh-blunt: ‘If you think you can get away with it and be sneaky, your butt is going to get caught.’”

It’s a cool little detail about a modern Bengals great who continues to be around the team and the game as a whole.

As for his guy, Burton has a new haircut, vibe and reviews from teammates as he gets going on his sophomore year.
