When will Chick-fil-A, Panda Express and Sheetz open in Stow?

Two chain restaurants and a Sheetz gas station are still on target to open before the end of the year on the former Stow-Glen property on Kent Road.

Stow-Glen Retirement Village closed in October 2021 after 37 years because of financial difficulties.

The new Sheetz gas station and Chick-fil-A restaurants will have 2026 openings, said Lance F. Osborne of Osborne Capital Group in Mentor.

“They’ll both be open this year,” Osborne said. “We don’t have exact opening dates yet.”

An architect confirmed that American Chinese restaurant Panda Express also will open this year.

The new Sheetz, which can be seen taking shape near the Meijer gas station, will include a 6,200-square-foot building and six pumps near Kent Road, on the front western part of the former Stow-Glen property.

Sheetz is headquartered in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and has around 700 facilities in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina.

Chick-fil-A is the third-largest quick-service restaurant company in the United States, according to the company. More than 200,000 people are employed by independent owner-operators in more than 3,000 restaurants across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Phillip Meador, project architect at Heights Venture Architects in Houston, said the planned Panda Express, which will be on the abutting property west of the Meijer gas station, is expected to open before the end of the year.

Panda Express will have a 2,741-square-foot restaurant, according to plans filed with the city.

In addition, two retail buildings are planned for the back of the former Stow-Glen property, one 13,100 square feet and the other 15,000 square feet. Osborne said there were no updates on what businesses may move into those planned spaces.

When will the new nursing home open at the former Stow-Glen?

No one was available for comment regarding The Avenue at Stow Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center, which was expected to open this summer. A job description on ZipRecruiter describes The Avenue as “a stunning, hotel-like skilled nursing facility.”

Evergreen Park of Stow, an apartment complex at 4287 Kent Road, opened in the spring. The apartments are in two remodeled buildings that formerly had assisted-living units.
