It takes a lot of hands. A lot of heart.

And more ornaments and strings of Christmas lights than one can possibly ever imagine to pull off the annual Deck the Hall at Akron’s historic Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens.

The holiday transformation of stately estate of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company co-founder F.A. Seiberling will open for public tours on the day after Thanksgiving on Nov. 28.

The tours will continue through Dec. 30.

Stan Hywet spokesperson Erica Hoosic said volunteers have been planning for months and working for weeks to get the estate and its grounds ready for the holiday season.

The estate’s rooms are decorated with varying themes by volunteers and professional decorators.

“It is just beautiful,” Hoosic said. “It came together nicely.”

The master bedroom has a forest theme, she said, that is absolutely gorgeous.

Decorators of some of the rooms and spaces include the Jones Group Interior Design, Leaf Home and Blooms, Gate Way Flora by Mortal Tree Design, the Hower House and Dan West Interior Design.

The outdoor gardens and walking paths are decorated with tens of thousands of lights including the popular Dazzle light show that is set to Christmas music.

Santa will take up residence in the courtyard of the estate’s Carriage House where the event’s signature warm molasses gingerbread cookies will be available for purchase.

And the Corbin Conservatory will be decorated too with a large selection and variety poinsettia will be available for purchase.

A special night and dinner with the Cleveland Ballet with a performance of “The Little Nutcracker” is planned for Dec. 3 and 4. Advance tickets are required.

Dinner and Deck the Hall will be Dec. 5, 10-12. Advance reservations are required.

A Sensory Friendly Evening is planned from 3 to 9 p.m. Dec. 9 with smaller crowds and no music or flashing lights.
