Ohio State men’s basketball earned an at-large bid in the March Madness East Region, highlighted by top tournament seed Duke and multiple national championship head coaches, including Rick Pitino with No. 5 St. John’s and Dan Hurley with No. 2 UConn. What is TCU’s mascot?

TCU’s mascot is a Horned Frog.

According to TCU’s website, the 1897 school yearbook staff published the 1897-88 book titled “The Horned Frog” since it was catchy. A year before, the football team was introduced to the school. Legend has it the field was covered in horned frogs.

“Horned frog” is a common name for the Texas horned lizard, the largest species of horned lizards found in the U.S. Fun fact: they shoot blood for up to five feet out of their eyes as a last-resort defense mechanism against predators, per the school’s website.

What is TCU’s mascot’s name?

TCU’s Mascot’s name is SuperFrog.

After undergoing several renditions of earlier costumes and names, the 1979 TCU student government approved funding for a new design, which was called “Super Frog,” according to the school website.

The name stuck, but the mascot once again underwent a redesign in 1999 by a graphic designer in the university’s marketing and communication department named Gorland Mars. The design has lasted to the present date, with a few updates to SuperFrog’s costume and physique.
