BELOIT ‒ After serving the role on an interim basis, Matt Manley is now the full-time superintendent for West Branch Local Schools.
The district’s Board of Education voted unanimously on Feb. 19 to remove the temporary label. Manley will be in charge of the schools until June 2028.

Manley, 64, was appointed interim superintendent on Dec. 18, 2025, after Micki Egli retired, citing health issues and public scrutiny after an incident involving a longtime coach.
In a statement, Manley said he was humbled by the board’s decision to retain him.
“This position means even more because of our dedicated board,” he said. “In addition, all of our administrative team members received contract extensions and want to be part of this community. Together with our board, staff, students and we move forward with positivity and joy.”
A longtime educator, Manley retired from the district after the 2024-25 school year, when he served as assistant principal for two years at West Branch Middle School.
He also has had other administrative roles over the years with West Branch. The North Benton resident also served as superintendent of Crestview Local Schools.
Board members cited Manley’s deep roots in West Branch and his proven leadership, along with a student-centered approach, for their decision.
