MANSFIELD — It was a great week for Richland County high school football teams.
Richland County went 6-3 in Week 4, with the winning teams outscoring opponents by a combined 261-61, including three shutouts.
Let’s take a look at what all went down in Week 4 and check out the conference and area scoreboard.
Richland County Football Scoreboard
Lexington 70, Akron North 0
The Minutemen put up a historic performance.
Lexington scored the most points in a single game in program history, breaking a record set with a 67-6 win over East Knox in 1983, and senior quarterback Joe Caudill launched five touchdown passes to tie the program record for TD passes in a single game.
Seven Allen got the scoring started with a 35-yard touchdown run before Avery Crawford caught the first of his two touchdowns, an 8-yard strike from Caudill. Crawford added a 29 yarder, and Brayden Fogle had a 14-yard TD catch before Allen added his second rushing score of the night, this time from 45 yards away. Dantrell Hughes caught an 18-yard touchdown before Caudill scored on a 19-yard rushing TD and Elijah White added a 19-yard score to make it 57-0 at the half.
Lane Schuster ran for a 2-yard score before Dae’Jon Weatherspoon had a 1-yard score to round out the big night.
Caudill went 5-for-9 for 101 yards and five touchdowns while also running for 47 yards and a score on three carries.
Lexington put up 293 rushing yards and allowed just six on defense. They had 108 passing yards and allowed just six.
The Minutemen (3-1) head to Wooster in Week 5 to begin Ohio Cardinal Conference play.
Lucas 62, Vanlue 0
Bentley Rannigan had two carries for 112 yards to lead the Cubs in rushing as they piled up 246 yards on the ground on just 17 play. They had 278 yards of total offense and needed just two first downs to score 62 points, their highest point total since Week 9 of the 2018 season, when the Cubs scored 61 on River.
The Cubs forced three turnovers, two fumbles and an interception, and held Vanlue to just 59 yards of totla offense.
Lucas (2-2) hosts Martins Ferry in Week 5.
Madison 28, Wooster 17
The Rams earned an impressive win to kick off Ohio Cardinal Conference play.
Colton Adkins ran for 42 yards on nine carries with a pair of touchdowns while also completing 3 of 7 passes for 100 yards and a score. He also had an interception return for a touchdown on defense to account for all four scores.
Julian Washington caught a 74-yard touchdown pass, while Camden Moysi had two catches for 26 yards and Zaydien Longboat had 13 carries for 50 yards. Aiden Proctor led a spirited defensive effort with two sacks.
The Rams (2-2) host West Holmes in Week 5.
West Holmes 45, Mansfield Senior 6
After falling behind 38-0, the Tygers got on the board with 6:07 left in the game when Sean Tanner hit DJ Corbin for an 18-yard touchdown pass. Tanner completed 15 of 26 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown and an interception. Plessie Wentforth was his favorite target with seven catches for 77 yards while Xavier Taylor had four catches for 42 yards, Corbin had two catches for 27 yards. Tai Pickett had a 13-yard catch and Ryan Au had a seven-yarder.
The Tygers had 148 yards of total offense. They had just eight first downs for the game.
The Tygers (0-4) host New Philadelphia in Week 5.
