‘Wizard of Oz’ in Deersville

DEERSVILLE − The Deersville Community Theatre will present “The Wizard of Oz” at 7 p.m. June 12-14 and 2 p.m. June 15. Doors will open one hour prior to showtime. Meals will be served in the theater’s dining room prior to each show for a freewill donation.

Downtown Dover Chocolate Walkis June 14

DOVER − The Downtown Dover Chocolate Walk will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. June 14. The event that celebrates Dover’s merchants and community organizations. An after party with live music will follow at Hoodletown Brewery. Local businesses and organizations interested in being one of the sweet stops along the walk can contact Jim Gill at 330-343-6123 or director@doverlibrary.org.  

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at The Emporium, 118 W. Third St., and the Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St. Proceeds benefit the Canal Town Book Festival. Ticket holders will be given a passport, map and a bag and will receive a chocolate treat at 25 downtown sweet stops.   

HARCATUS to meet

DOVER − HARCATUS will hold its annual organizational meeting at 1 p.m. June 25 at the First Church of the Nazarene Youth Building, 233 Fair Ave. NE. Public comment with respect to agency operations is welcomed at that time. The agency’s annual report will be released and posted to its website following the meeting.  

Baseball author to speak

DOVER − Author Will Bardenwerper will discuss his latest book, “Homestand: Small Town Baseball and the Fight for the Soul of America “at 7 p.m. June 10, in the Dover Library. A book signing will follow. Copies will be available for $25.

Yoga on Tuesdays  

NEW PHILADELPHIA − Sunset Yoga at the Amphitheater is from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays at Tuscora Park, 161 Tuscora Ave. NW. Lindsey Carlisle, a certified yoga and meditation instructor, will lead these sessions.  

The sessions are donation-based. Bring water and a yoga mat or towel. For more information email Lindsey@wellnessadventuresllc.com  

Program on Arlington Cemetery is June 11 

NEW PHILADELPHIA − Chris Hart will present Forever We Honor Arlington Cemetery at 6:30 p.m. June 11, at the main library, 121 Fair Ave. NW.  Registration is required. For more information, call 330-364-4474.  

Cemetery plaque dedication June 14  

SUGARCREEK − Members of Shanesville Lutheran Church will hold a dedication ceremony at 2 p.m. June 14 at the Shanesville First Reformed Cemetery on Hillcrest Drive for a plaque honoring the Rev. Abraham Snyder, who brought the Lutheran faith to the early communities of Tuscarawas, Holmes and Coshocton counties.   

The Rev. Laura Barbins, bishop of the Northeastern Ohio Lutheran Synod, will lead the service. Glen Hammel of the Shanesville Historical Society will share a brief history of Snyder and the early Lutheran church of the area. In case of threatening weather, the dedication will be held in the church sanctuary.  

Bestselling author will talk about latest releases

SUGARCREEK − Shelley Shepard Gray will speak about her latest releases, “Unshaken,” “B is for Bonnet,” and “Their Surprise Reunion” at Sugarcreek’s First United Church of Christ, 526 W. Main St. Gray is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of Amish and Inspirational fiction. A book signing as well as a question-and-answer session will follow. Registration is required. World War II-themed event June 13-14

SUGARCREEK – The Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum will present Steam to Victory, a World War II-themed living history event, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 13 and 14. The event pays homage to the role railroads played during World War II transporting troops, equipment, and supplies across the country. 

Visitor will see living history reenactors, historic steam locomotives, artillery and small arms demonstrations, military vehicles and equipment, military memorabilia and food vendors. Journey tribute band to perform at rib burn-off 

CARROLLTON – St. John’s Villa’s Rib Burn-off and Car and Motorcycle Show will be June 14 at St. John’s Villa campus, 701 Crest St. NW. The fundraiser will benefit the adults with developmental disabilities served by St. John’s Villa. The event will feature E5C4P3, a Journey tribute band, performing from 5 to 10 p.m.

The rib burn-off and car and motorcycle show will begin at 9 a.m. with registration at 7 a.m. There are 12 food trucks/vendors, including Big Meats, K & T Kanteen and Swingin’ Meats, Hogghed BBQ and Rooster Tail BBQ. Food trucks will be open by 11 a.m. A beer garden and a craft show will also be available.

Scio Summer Fest moves to Aug. 21-24  

SCIO − The 2025 Scio Summer Fest is being moved back two weeks to accommodate a new amusement ride company. This year’s festival will be held from Aug. 21-24.  

With school started by then, the event will have a different format. The festival will run Thursday through Sunday. Aug. 21 will be the annual 5K Run and Kids Fun Run, Aug. 22 will be ax throwing, the parade will be Aug. 23, and the car show will be Aug. 24. Bigtop’s Magic Midway from Columbus will provide eight rides, food, and games.
