Tourney Trail: Who, when and where will Richland County baseball teams play in the postseason?

MANSFIELD — The tourney trails are set.

Baseball coaches met on Sunday to figure out their paths to a district championship.

Let’s check out each team’s tourney trail for the 2025 Ohio High School Athletic Association Baseball Tournament.

Division III Tiffin University District

In the Division III district tournament held at Tiffin University’s Paradiso Athletic Complex, the Lexington Minutemen took the No. 5 overall seed and will host No. 8 Mansfield Senior at 5 p.m. on May 22 for a sectional championship. The Madison Rams earned the No. 10 seed and will travel to No. 7 Tiffin Columbian at 5 p.m. on May 20 in a sectional semifinals matchup. The winner travels to No. 1 Defiance at 5 p.m. on May 22 for a sectional championship. The winners of those matchups meet at 2 p.m. on May 29 at Tiffin University for a district semifinal game.

In the lower bracket, Ashland was the No. 4 seed and travels to No. 3 Norwalk at 5 p.m. on May 22 for a sectional championship game. The winner plays the winner of No. 6 Celina, No. 9 Lima Shawnee, who face off at 5 p.m. on May 20 in a sectional semifinal, and No. 2 Wapakoneta in the district semifinals slated for 4:30 p.m. on May 29.

The district title game is at 2 p.m. on May 31 at Tiffin University.

Division IV Willard District

In the Division IV district tournament held in Willard, the Clear Fork Colts took the No. 2 overall seed and will host No. 7 Clyde at 5 p.m. on May 21 in a sectional championship matchup. The winner moves on to play the winner of No. 3 Bellevue and No. 5 Vermilion at 4:30 p.m. on May 28 in the district semifinals in Willard.

The Shelby Whippets earned the No. 4 overall seed and will host No. 5 Ontario at 5 p.m. on May 21 for a sectional championship. The winner moves on to play No. 1 Perkins at 2 p.m. on May 28 at Willard in the district semifinals.

The district championship game is slated for 5 p.m. on May 30 in Willard.

Division VI Shelby District

In the Division VI Shelby District, the Crestview Cougars earned the No. 3 overall seed. They will host No. 7 Bucyrus at 5 p.m. on May 23 in a sectional championship game. The winner gets the winner of No. 4 Colonel Crawford and No. 6 Mansfield Christian in the district semifinals at 4:30 p.m. on May 28 at Shelby High School. The Flames travel to Crawford at 5 p.m. on May 23 for a sectional championship game.

In the upper bracket, Wynford earned the No. 1 overall seed and opted for a bye right into the district semifinals. The Royals play the winner of No. 2 Western Reserve and No. 5 New London at 2 p.m. on May 28.

The district title game is slated for 5 p.m. on May 30 back at Shelby.

Division VII Galion District

In the Division VII district tournament in Galion, the Lucas Cubs were tabbed as the No. 4 overall seed. They will travel to No. 3 Buckeye Central at 5 p.m. on May 23 for a sectional championship game. The winner takes on the winner of No. 2 South Central and No. 7 Crestline at 4:30 p.m. on May 29 at Galion’s Heise Park in the district semifinals.

The Plymouth Big Red earned the No. 5 overall seed and will host No. 6 Ridgemont at 5 p.m. on May 23 for a sectional championship. The winner advances to play No. 1 Mohawk at 2 p.m. on May 29 at Heise Park in the district semifinals.

The district championship game is slated for 2 p.m. on May 31 back at Heise Park.
