Dexter Lawrence's goal with Bengals after trade will thrill fans

Arguably, nobody is more excited about Dexter Lawrence joining the Cincinnati Bengals than…Dexter Lawrence.

Lawrence flew into Cincinnati the morning after the Bengals traded for him, passed his physical and signed his new contract before hitting his new home team’s turf to take in the moment.

Asked about his feelings on the big move, Lawrence specifically said he’s been looking forward to helping out the team’s young linebackers.

“My first thought was how I’m going to help the young linebackers. Make their job easier. I know who I am and what I bring to a team,” Lawrence said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “I know me being on the field with my presence is going to make a lot of people be better.”

Those linebackers, Demetrius Knight and Barrett Carter, enter critical sophomore years needing to make a leap in order for the entire defense to improve.

Lawrence, of course, is one of the best nose tackles in football and opens up the game in a big way for linebackers.

And understandably, he’s excited about joining a contender all-in around key names.

“I’m ecstatic,” Lawrence said, per Hobson. “To be on this team with Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, to be back with Tee again, Chase Brown … I told Tee, ‘We’ve got some unfinished business.’ … That’s obviously our goal. Winning the Super Bowl.”
