It was a memorable season for high school boys basketball in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Cincinnati celebrated its first two state champions since 2022. Princeton won the Ohio Division I championship and Wyoming took the Division IV crown, a first for both programs. There were many key wins and highlights from other teams along the way.
With the season over, here are The Cincinnati Enquirer’s all-city teams for the 2025-26 season.
Southwest Ohio
Division I
Co-players of the year
A’mire Gill, Princeton: The junior led the Vikings to a 25-3 record and the state championship, averaging 17.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. In the state final, he had 24 points on 10-of-12 shooting. He was first-team all-state and all-district.
Joshua Tyson, Lakota West: The junior led the Firebirds to a 24-2 record and the regional finals. He averaged 16.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists. He was the Southwest District player of the year and first-team all-state.
Co-coaches of the year
Bryan Wyant, Princeton: He led Princeton to a 25-3 record and their first state championship, winning six postseason games by an average of 29 points.
Mike Price, Oak Hills: He led the Highlanders to an 18-8 record and the regional finals with their first district championship since 1996. He was District 16 coach of the year and Division I coach of the year by the Ohio coaches association.

Ben Cosgrove, Badin: He led the Rams to a 24-3 record, co-championship of the Greater Catholic League-Coed, and the regional finals, which was their last time in that round since 2002. He was GCL-Coed coach of the year.

Coach of the year
Matt Rooks, Wyoming: He led the Cowboys to a 27-2 record and their first state championship, winning all seven postseason games by at least 16 points and the championship game by 25. He was co-coach of the year in the Southwest District.

Max Joiner, Summit Country Day: He led the Silver Knights to a 16-11 record and the Division V state semifinals. He averaged 17.6 points and 8.7 rebounds and was first-team all-league in the Miami Valley Conference-Scarlet Division. He was first-team all-state and all-district.
Co-coaches of the year
Brandon Philpot, Waynesville: He led the Spartans to a 24-3 record, the regional finals and their first district championship in 25 years.
Dan McKibben, Williamsburg: He led the Wildcats to an undefeated regular season, 24-1 overall record, and the SBAAC-National Division title.

Casey Heap, Miami Valley Christian Academy: He led the Lions to a 19-5 record, co-championship of the MVC-Gray, and the district finals. He averaged 15.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists, making 52 3-pointers and shooting 39.4% from behind the arc. He was co-player of the year in the league, District 16 player of the year, first-team All-Southwest District and second-team all-state.
Coach of the year
Kyle Rapp, Miami Valley Christian Academy: He led the Lions to a 19-5 record, co-championship of the MVC-Gray, and the district finals.

Player of the year
Athens McGillis, Covington Catholic: The senior led the Colonels to a 31-3 record, the Ninth Region championship and the first round of the Sweet 16. He averaged 22.4 points with 74 3-pointers. McGillis was the Ninth Region’s Mr. Basketball finalist and also the Division I player of the year in Northern Kentucky. He was first-team all-state in the Louisville Courier-Journal coaches poll. He also finished second on the CovCath career list with 2,015 career points. He also had 461 assists.
Coach of the year
Nick Dorning, Ryle: He led the Raiders to a 23-9 record and the Ninth Region final. It was their most wins since the school’s only regional title in 2002. Ryle won 19 of its last 22 games of the season, falling to Covington Catholic in the regional final.
