The Houston Texans are releasing former Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon, according to a report March 6 via Twitter/X from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
Mixon was named a Pro Bowler in his first season with the Texans. He missed his entire second season with the team because of a foot injury.

Mixon played his first seven NFL seasons for the Bengals. Cincinnati traded Mixon to Houston in March 2024 for a 2024 seventh-round draft pick.
In Jan. 2025, CBS analyst and former NFL star J.J. Watt questioned a $25,000 fine for Mixon for criticism of officials.
Sunday Night Football analyst and former Bengals receiver Cris Collinsworth said in Nov. 2024 that Cincinnati’s trade of Mixon gave the running back extra incentive to prove himself with his new team.
