Notre Dame women’s basketball is back on the court today, as it will take on the NC State Wolfpack in the third-round of the women’s ACC Tournament.
The Irish are coming off a victory over Miami, one that saw star guard Hannah Hidalgo dominating again. She became ACC single-season steals leader, a record that should continue to grow as Notre Dame is still on the court.

Notre Dame 81, Miami 63- Final
Notre Dame is starting to go to the bench and NC State makes a 10-0 run. Moore follows up with her fourth 3 point make while simultaneously a foul is called against the Irish. At this point Notre Dame understands the clock is their friend and try to take as much time off the clock on every possession. Notre Dame advances to the next round to face off against Duke at Noon ET on Saturday.
Notre Dame 74, Miami 50 – 4:35 Left in the 4th Quarter
The fourth quarter starts similar to how the third quarter ended. The Irish scored the first 6 points in the final frame. Notably, Hannah was substituted out and now we see if the Irish can maintain this cushion of a lead and have her ready to go tomorrow for the third game in three days. Update, Hidalgo sat for about a minute and despite a 71-45 lead at the time of this typing, she comes back into the game. The Irish and Wolfpack trade back and fourth 3 point makes.
Notre Dame 62, Miami 41 – End of the 3rd Quarter
Once again Hannah Hidalgo goes to the bench for a breather and in that brief time, the NC State Wolfpack make a run. Hannah checks back in and quickly hits a 3-pointer and steals the ball on the following possession. With Notre Dame noticeably only having a 7 person rotation, it’s not unreasonable to wonder if the Irish can try to give Hidalgo a breather in the 4th.
Notre Dame 60, Miami 36 – 2:24 left in the 3rd Quarter
Another quick timeout from NC State. The Irish have now outscored the Wolfpack 20-4 in the third quarter.
Notre Dame 56, Miami 36 – 4:02 left in the 3rd quarter
Pivotal moment in this game as NC State’s Qadence Samuels picks up her 4th foul with 5:40 left in the third quarter. The Irish scored 16 of the first 17 points of the quarter. Hannah Hidalgo is up to 21 points for the game now shooting 10-16 from the court. The Wolfpack are going to have to make a run soon or else the Irish look to close this out and move to the next round.
Notre Dame 50, Miami 32 – 7:06 left in the 3rd quarter
The Irish missed 7 of their last 8 in the 2nd quarter however come out aggressively to start the third. The Irish scored the first 10 points in the quarter and defensively forced the Wolfpack to take tough shots at the end of the shot clock on the other end. NC State had no choice but to call timeout to try to collect themselves before this game gets out of reach.
Notre Dame 40, Miami 32- Halftime
NC State builds a little confidence late in the 2nd quarter as they chip away at the Irish lead and are down at 8 at the half. The Irish will have to find a way for someone else not named Hidalgo and Moore to step up. The duo have combined for 33 of the Irish 40 points thus far. Irish FG% has gone down to 44% while NC State is at 42%. The Wolfpack with 12 turnovers compared to the Irish looks to be the biggest glaring difference between the two teams thus far.
Notre Dame 38 Miami 28, 1:23 remaining in first half
The shots aren’t falling like they were in the first quarter but Notre Dame continues to win the hustle plays. NC State has forced the Irish to shooting outside. NC State makes a run while Hidalgo goes to the bench. Expect her back soon.
Notre Dame 34, NC State 22, 4:58 remaining in the 2nd quarter
This game continues to be the Hannah Hidalgo and Iyana Moore show. The two have combined for 27 of the Notre Dame 34 points as the Irish are shooting 54% from the field as opposed to NC State’s 31%.
Notre Dame 23, NC State 18, end of 1st quarter.
A strong start by the Irish women who hit the 8 of their first 11 shots. However NC State survived the initial Irish onslaught and cut a once 10 point lead down to 5 after the first quarter.
Notre Dame’s starting five
No change here as the Irish trot out the same starters as the previous game. The five women carry the team, and they’ll need another big effort out of this group to advance to the next round.
