Ohio State said it drew a slightly larger crowd for this year’s spring football game despite rainy weather.
The school announced an attendance of 40,240 for the annual scrimmage at Ohio Stadium on April 18, a jump of just more than 100 spectators from last year.

The announced attendance was 40,136 last April, marking the lowest for the Buckeyes’ spring game since coronavirus restrictions were in place in 2021. Without pandemic limits, 2025’s total was the smallest crowd for a spring game in Columbus since 2005.
Before the recent decline, the Buckeyes had drawn a crowd of at least 60,000 for the spring game over three consecutive years, including 80,012 in 2024.
Nearly all of the fans in attendance at the Horseshoe this year were confined to its lower bowl, and many of them sat in B-deck to get cover from the rain that began during the second quarter.
