The Grand Marshals for the 79th Sweet Corn Festival Grand Parade will be Dr. Jerry and Vickie Detwiler of Lancaster, according to the Millersport Lions Club. They will lead the parade on the North Valley Bank float. The parade kicks off at 6 p.m. Sept. 2, and proceeds on Lancaster Street and Chautauqua Boulevard through Millersport with 17 high school marching bands and 150 units.
Jerry and Vickie were selected to be honored this year because of their faithful and dedicated years of volunteer service at the famous Alturas Lodge’s Fellowcraft Booth during the Sweet Corn Festival. The lodge membership was given the opportunity to select amongst themselves who to serve as Grand Marshals.
This honor is in recognition of the Alturas Masonic Lodge #537 and their Fellowcraft French Fries Operations, which is the oldest nonprofit organization at the Sweet Corn Festival since the very beginning in 1947 on the streets of Millersport. The Millersport Lions also wish to recognize the 142nd year of the Alturas Lodge, their active role in the 13th Masonic District and their philanthropic support of our community and its citizens since 1884.
