Strong storms left thousands in Summit Co. without power, when will power be restored?

FirstEnergy anticipates most Ohio Edison customers will have power restored on Friday, June 20, at the latest. That’s two days after a strong line of storms blew through the region last night, leaving thousands of Summit County customers without power.

More than 1,800 customers were still experiencing power outages as of 3:30 p.m., according to FirstEnergy’s website. That’s down from over 5,500 almost six hours earlier.

The primary cause of the outages is listed as tree damage.

“Crews made good progress restoring power to the more than half of the 82,000 customers impacted by the line of storms that moved through Wednesday night,” said Hannah Catlett, a spokeperson for FirstEnergy.
