The sounds and rumble of a bygone era is returning to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park this summer.
The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad has announced that its popular Steam in Valley excursions are returning in the spring.
The annual appearance of the historic steam engines attracts thousands of people for trips through the national park and countless others to watch along the way.
The excursions will be over two weekends June 5 to 7 and June 12 to 13.
Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, March 31. For more, visit cvsr.org.
The Nickel Plate Road’s 2-8-4 Berkshire No. 765 stands some 15 feet tall, weighs 404 tons and can travel at more than 60 miles an hour.
It was built by the Lima Locomotive Works in 1944.
Departures for the nearly three-hour excursions are typically from the Rockside Station at 7900 Old Rockside Road in Independence.
