Severe storms forecast for Cincinnati before heat wave hits next week

A rainy weekend is ahead for Greater Cincinnati.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected Thursday, June 25 in Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Afternoon and evening storms could turn strong to severe, bringing damaging winds and locally heavy rain.

Showers and storms will continue Friday, June 26, into Saturday, June 27. Heavy rain could lead to flooding, according to the National Weather Service. Some storms may also produce gusty winds.

Warm, moist air will move into the region by Monday, June 29. Highs will reach the lower 90s by midweek, with dew points in the 70s. The heat index could approach 100 each afternoon.

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 3 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., then showers and thunderstorms likely after 5 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 86.
