Cale Saunders struck out 10, surrendering just one walk, four hits and one run in 4⅓ innings on April 29, pitching the Newark baseball team to a 4-1 victory against visiting Logan in Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division play.
Trenton Wilson and Moses combined for five strikeouts in relief to complete a five-hitter for the first-place Wildcats (14-2, 9-0). Crane also singled twice and scored a run, and Brody Driskel added a hit and two runs and Bodie Smith a hit and an RBI.
Valley blanks Lakewood
Grayson Snow fired six shutout innings, striking out three and allowing four hits in Licking Valley’s 4-0 victory against visiting Lakewood in Licking County League-Buckeye Division play.
Brody Rodgers reached base four times and scored three runs for the first-place Panthers (13-2, 10-1) out of the leadoff spot. Adam West added two hits, a run and two RBIs, Brady Croak two hits and Zane Hancock a hit and an RBI.
Carter Davis struck out four and allowed eight hits and three runs in five innings for the Lancers (5-11, 2-9), who managed just four singles at the plate. Garrett Hardway struck out three and allowed one run in two hitless innings of relief.
