Ross County Christian Academy senior feels calling to teach

CHILLICOTHE — For Isabella Ramey, Ross County Christian Academy has become a family for the last 13 years. Now, as she sets her sights on graduation, she said she thanks God for it all.

“I’ve been here since preschool and up,” Ramey said. “A lot of my senior classmates, we’ve been together since first grade up till now. It’s definitely gonna be bittersweet to watch everyone go their separate ways. But, we all know that we’ll keep each other in prayers, in our prayers, in our minds, and we’ll just reach out as much as we can.”

Ramey said she is very involved in her school, church, and community, including the RCCA Varsity Basketball team and being president of student council.

“We do a lot of service opportunities in the community and with the Pioneer School,” Ramey said. “We like to help serve there [Pioneer]as much as we can. We also try to clean up and do litter pick up around campus.”

In church, Ramey is involved in her church’s youth group, on the praise team, and helps in the church nursery and with kids’ ministries. She said these things have inspired her to become a teacher for elementary school children.

“My whole family is teachers, so it’s kind of cool to be following in their footsteps,” Ramey said.

Ramey has been accepted into the Teach for the Kingdom program, which she said is through the Center of Christian Virtues.

During her time in this program, Ramey will be able to work in a classroom while doing online classes.

“I have always had a heart for kids since I was a baby, pretty much myself,” Ramey said. “I have a lot of little cousins running around and being involved in church. I think that’s just such a blessing to be able to see, knowing that the Lord made them and crafted them by hand and just knowing how they’re fearfully and wonderfully made.”
