PHOENIX – As expected, the Cincinnati Reds put Michael Toglia on the injured list Sunday (Aug. 23), two days after he dislocated his shoulder making a diving catch in left field against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Toglia has experienced less severe symptoms than originally feared, but he hasn’t been able to schedule an MRI until Monday, and the struggling Reds can’t afford to play short-handed during a three-city road trip that heads next to San Francisco.
The Reds recalled infielder/outfielder Ivan Johnson from Triple-A Louisville to take Toglia’s spot on the roster.
Toglia dislocated his right (glove-arm) shoulder sliding across the artificial turf in Phoenix during the first inning of the first game of the road trip.
