Friday, Dec. 12
Boys Basketball
Windham 53, Lordstown 48
The balanced Bombers had four players finish in double digits: Gavin Kiser (12 points), Ethan Thornton (11), Matt Kolaczek (10) and Keegan Kiser (10). Windham made eight 3-pointers, led by Gavin Kiser’s three with Louden Collins and Keegan Kiser adding two apiece.
Aurora 49, Cuyahoga Falls 40
Down nine at the half, the Greenmen outscored the Black Tigers 32-14 after halftime. Josh Harrell made 12 free throws to finish with a game-high 19 points while Gui Goedert also finished in double digits with 13.
Girls Basketball
Ravenna 43, Springfield 41
Down eight with a quarter remaining, the Ravens took over with a 20-10 fourth. Jalysia Thompson capped Ravenna’s comeback with a game-winning shot at the buzzer while Mackenzie Ervin had a pair of fourth-quarter 3-pointers to finish with a team-high 13 points. Thompson also finished in double figures with 11.
Rootstown 41, Chagrin Falls 40
Down 11 after three quarters, the Rovers (4-1, 2-1 CVC) rallied behind a 15-3 fourth, capped by Elliott Smallfield’s baseline inbound to Colbie Curall for the game-winner at the buzzer. Curall had a team-high 19 points while Avery Russell had a game-high 25 for the Tigers.
Copley 57, Roosevelt 36
Evelyn McKnight had a game-high 25 points and eight rebounds to hand the Rough Riders their first loss of the season.
Claire VanDamme led Roosevelt with 15 points. Grace Schoenberger added 11 points for the Rough Riders (7-1, 3-1 Suburban American), making 3-of-4 shots from deep.
Wednesday, Dec. 10
Girls Basketball
Mogadore 68, Windham 19
The Wildcats (4-2) topped 20 points in each of the first two quarters. Rylee Clark made two 3-pointers to tie for the team lead with 14 points. Kasey Bolyard also scored 14 for Mogadore, with Jessica Holler (10) providing a third player in double figures.
Makenna Jones scored eight points to lead Windham, while Kierrah Sanders added a pair of 3-pointers.
Roosevelt 64, Barberton 17
Claire VanDamme had 21 points and six rebounds to help the Rough Riders stay undefeated. Grace Schoenberger added 20 points for Roosevelt (7-0, 3-0 Suburban American), making 3 of 7 from deep.
Copley 40, Aurora 34
The Greenmen (3-3, 1-2 Suburban American) fell despite three 3-pointers from Addison Witting, who finished with 11 points.
Evelyn McKnight had a game-high 20 points for Copley, which out-scored Aurora 10-4 in the third quarter after the Greenmen led by two at the half.
Boys Basketball
Norton 70, Streetsboro 57
The Rockets (1-2, 1-2 Metro Athletic Conference) fell despite 23 points from Ryan Roscoe with P.J. Robinson also finishing in double figures with 14.
The Panthers (4-0, 3-0) had four players finish in double figures: Buddy Willig (18), Mason Ventura (18), Alex Meinen (12) and Isaac Hunter (11).
Tuesday, Dec. 9
Boys Basketball
Aurora 53, Copley 52
Josh Harrell delivered a dominant performance for the Greenmen, scoring a game-high 26 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with under 25 seconds to play. Luke Hilditch tossed in an additional seven points and took a critical charge in the closing seconds. Gui Goedert added nine points for Aurora (1-1, 1-0 Suburban American).
Mogadore 57, East Canton 50
Gavin Gardner scored 19 points and Jordon Smith added 15 to help coach Conner Wess pick up his first win as a varsity head coach.
Jordy Harris had a game-high 24 points, including four 3-pointers, for the Hornets.
Badger 70, Windham 37
Three players scored in double figures for the victorious Braves: Alton Winchek (17 points), Jack Harnett (16) and Tyler McWilliams (14).
Keegan Kiser hit two 3-pointers to finish with a team-high eight points for the Bombers. Gavin Kiser also hit a pair of 3-pointers for Windham, which made eight shots from deep, accounting for 24 of its 37 points.
Girls Basketball
Crestwood 44, Rootstown 37
Down 12 early in the second half, the Red Devils rallied for an impressive victory. Freshman Reese Harper celebrated her 15th birthday with 23 points and 18 rebounds, both game-highs. Madie Grace Gonczy scored five of her eight points in the fourth quarter, including the go-ahead 3-pointer, while Piper Seibold had three fourth-quarter assists for Crestwood (3-2, 2-0 Chagrin Valley Conference Valley Division). The Red Devils also held the Rovers scoreless in the fourth quarter and to just four points in the second half.
Colbie Curall and Cloe Bengtson led Rootstown with 10 and nine points, respectively. The seniors had two 3-pointers apiece for the Rovers (3-1, 1-1).
Cloverleaf 65, Ravenna 37
Evie Barth had a game-high 19 points for the Colts as they improved to 6-0 (3-0 Metro Athletic Conference).
Miriyha Sandifer had a team-high 14 points for the Ravens (1-4, 0-3).
Monday, Dec. 8
Girls Basketball
Roosevelt 65, Euclid 30
The Rough Riders improved to 6-0 fueled by an early 10-0 run.
Claire VanDamme had a team-high 17 points, five rebounds and two blocks while fellow Roosevelt senior Mahlia Friedman had 12 points, seven rebounds and seven steals.
Mogadore 55, Manchester 49
Down four after three quarters, the Wildcats rallied behind a 22-point fourth. Kasey Bolyard had a game-high 18 points while Rylee Clark made two 3-pointers and all four of her free throws to finish with 14. Hayli Clester added nine points and a team-best six rebounds for Mogadore (3-2).
Badger 52, Windham 35
Riley Thomas scored a game-high 20 points for the Braves, with Maelyn Custer (13) and Brinley Rice (11) also finishing in double figures.
The Bombers (0-5, 0-3 Northeastern Athletic Conference) fell despite 12 points apiece from Brielle Jones and Makenna Jones.
