Pittsburgh Steelers rookie quarterback Will Howard has received a ringing endorsement from future Pro Football Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers, who is expected to start for the Steelers this season.
“I just like his approach,” Rodgers said during Pittsburgh’s training camp. “You know, he’s a good kid. He cares about it, he works hard, he listens. He’s a good note-taker. He’s been picking my brain.”
Rodgers, 41, has played for more than two decades in the NFL and said he is happy to pass along the lessons he’s learned during that time to Howard.
“I told him last night; he was in the room where he was talking about signals. I said, ‘What can I do for you? I want to be a support system for him and pass on anything I can. I don’t want to overstep my bounds. If he wants to learn anything or pick my brain and be in my pocket, I’m all for it. So, I’m looking forward to growing that friendship.
“But he has all the ability and the talent, and when his time comes, I think he’s going to have a great chance to be a long-term guy in the league.”
The Steelers drafted Howard out of Ohio State in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, then signed Rodgers to a one-year contract in June. Pittsburgh also has QBs Mason Randolph and Skylar Thompson on the roster.

Howard spent one season with the Buckeyes, helping lead them to the national championship. He finished second nationally in completion percentage (.730), threw for 4,010 yards and 35 touchdowns after spending his first four seasons at Kansas State.
