Pistons trade Isaiah Stewart to Grizzlies for three second-round picks

Detroit — The Detroit Pistons traded center Isaiah Stewart to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night during the second round of the 2026 NBA Draft for three future second-round picks. ESPN was the first to report the trade.

As part of the deal, the Pistons acquired three future second-round picks from the Grizzlies. A source familiar with the transaction later confirmed the deal to The Detroit News.

Stewart’s time with the Pistons ended after seven seasons, which made him the longest-tenured player on the team. He joined the Pistons in 2020 as a first-round pick. Originally drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers, his rights were then traded to the Houston Rockets before he ultimately landed in Detroit.

Stewart has played in 365 games, averaging 8.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. Over the last two seasons, he has played a vital role in helping the Pistons restore their franchise after enduring four consecutive losing seasons.

Under coach J.B. Bickerstaff, Stewart experienced the most productive seasons of his career, averaging 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks.

By trading Stewart, the Pistons freed themselves from the two-year, $30.0 million remaining on his contract, clearing $15.0 million for the 2026-27 season.
