LANCASTER — The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced that there will be an OVI checkpoint in Fairfield County on the evening of Aug. 22.
The grant-funded OVI checkpoint is to deter and intercept impaired drivers. In 2024, there were 581 OVI-related fatal crashes in Ohio.
“State Troopers make an average of 25,000 OVI arrests each year in an attempt to combat these dangerous acts,” said Commander of the Lancaster Post, Lieutenant Akers in the press release. “OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving but to proactively remove these drivers from our roadways.”
The location of the checkpoint will be announced on the morning of Aug. 22.
