It is almost September, but that does not mean that college basketball recruiting slows down just because football season is about to begin. Florida State has been on a roll recruiting-wise, being able to land two four-star prospects, center Marcis Ponder and point guard Jasen Lopez (who is a two-sport phenom).
All of this effort has landed them the title of third-best recruiting class in the nation, with a score of 47.38 per 247Sports, only behind Creighton (48.16 points) and Notre Dame (47.96 points).
Four-star small forward Alex Egbuonu will be taking an official visit to Tallahassee on Oct. 3-5 to get to know the basketball program better, he told 247Sports’ Dushawn London. He is currently ranked as the second-best player from the State of Massachusetts and the 35th-best small forward prospect nationally in the 247Sports composite.
Egbuonu has also locked in visits with the Boston College Eagles, Georgetown Hoyas, Providence Friars, and Stanford Cardinal. He has also visited the Auburn Tigers, Marquette Golden Eagles, and Xavier Musketeers.
When asked about a timeline for his commitment, he told London, “The decision will probably come sometime after Christmas. It’ll come down to development, relationships with the coaches, and just knowing who I’m going to be with for the season and making sure it’s right for me and my family.”
