An Over-the-Rhine dance club is closing after being open for less than a year.
Sharkz, a venue with DJs, lasers and themed nights located at 2010 Elm St., near Rhinegeist Brewery, announced its closure in a June 16 social media post.
“It’s with heavy hearts we announce the closure of our nightclub, as we know it was short lived,” the post read. The club did not cite a reason for its closure and The Enquirer reached out for comment.
Sharkz final event will be Saturday, June 27, when the club welcomes Big Lex to headline its Cincinnati Pride afterparty.
The club officially opened on Nov. 28, 2025, with the hopes of recreating the popular nightlife experience of the defunct Energy Nightclub.
Energy Nightclub was promoted as the closest thing to a Vegas-style club in the area. The venue closed in January 2024 due to the planned demolition of Longworth Hall, where the club was located. Energy Nightclub said on social media at the time that it would move to a new location and reopen. However, the club never announced details, to the disappointment of fans who still comment on their social channels.
The nightclub featured two bars, a stage for performers, two VIP sections and a dancefloor in its roughly 6,000-square-foot space.
The Enquirer’s Bebe Hodges contributed to this report.
