Columbus police arrested a woman after an East Side shooting that left one dead and two injured, a division spokesman said.
Officers responded to a shooting at 9:24 a.m. Sept. 18 on the 3200 block of Sterling Lane near Krumm Park. Columbus police Sgt. James Fuqua said police have an unidentified woman suspect in custody.
First responders took one shooting victim to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, Downtown, where they were pronounced dead at 10:05 a.m. Fuqua said police believe that person is an adult woman, but are still working to identify her and notify next of kin.
Two more people went to Mount Carmel East and Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in stable condition.
Fuqua said police have two crime scenes, one inside an apartment on the block and another outside the building. Detectives are working to determine where the shooting happened, Fuqua said.
Fuqua said it’s not clear what led up to the shooting. The other two people who were wounded were also adults, and are expected to survive, Fuqua said.
East Columbus Elementary School, which is just blocks from where the shooting happened, was not placed on lockdown as a result of the incident, a school spokesperson said.
