OHSAA track and field 2025 | State meet results, updates, highlights

COLUMBUS — The 2025 Ohio High School Athletic Association track and field state championship meet were June 6 and June 7 at at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

As usual, Stark County was well represented, highlighted by Lake distance star Daniela Scheffler winning the Division I girls 3,200 meters, and Hoover’s Isaiah Barker defending his Division I boys long jump title.

OHSAA state track and field meet I Day 2, June 7

Lake’s Daniela Scheffler wins first OHSAA state track and field title

The wait was worth it for Daniela Scheffler.

In her final high school race, the Lake senior won her first OHSAA state track and field title in the Division I girls 3,200. Her time was 10:21.82

The state title comes off a runner-up finish for Scheffler in the 1,600 earlier in the day.

Daniela Scheffler’s state title hopes is down to one race.

The Lake senior finished as state-runner-up in the Division I girls 1,600 in 4:47.08. Lewis Center Olentangy Orange’s Brooke Chapman successfully defended her state title.

Scheffler will race in the 3,200 later today.

Fairless freshman Brice Fuller finishes just shy of 3,200 state title

Fairless’ Brice Fuller saw his outstanding freshman season end with a state runner-up finish in the Division II boys 3,200. He had the lead going into the final lap, but was edged by Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy’s Nathaniel Gockerman.

Gockerman’s time was 9:15.04. Fuller finished 9:16.78.

Stark County’s Isaiah Barker and Skylan King go 1-2, again, in the long jump

Hoover’s Isaiah Barker is a back-to-back state champion in the boys Division I long jump. And just like last year, GlenOak’s Skylan King is the state runner-up.

Barker’s winning mark of 23 feet, 10 inches came on his second attempt of the day. King’s top jump was 23-8.25, which came on his fifth of six attempts.

Gianna Ritchie makes Lake Center Christian history with state title

Gianna Ritchie became Lake Center Christian’s first state track and field champion when she won the Division III girls 800 in 2:12.79. She was the state runner-up in the 800 last season.

Perry’s Christopher Good three-time runner-up in first high school state meet

Christopher Good has built a lot of momentum for himself. The Perry freshman was runner-up in the boys seated 100, 400 and 800.

Garretsville Garfield’s Conner Hunt won all three races. He is a nine-time state champion.

Jackson junior thrower Abby LaPole is a state champion again

Make it back-to-back state championships for Jackson junior thrower Abby LaPole.

LaPole won her second straight girls seated shot put state title with a meet-record throw of 19 feet, 11 inches. It came on her final attempt.

Massillon’s Alayna Mendenhall finished seventh at 10-0.5. In the boys seated shot put, Perry freshman Christopher Good came in fifth with a throw of 18-9.5.

Another All-Ohio finish for East Canton thrower Shanaray Kager

East Canton’s Shanaray Kager finished fifth in the Division III girls discus with a 131-7 on her final throw. She was the state runner-up last season.

A state runner-up finish … and maybe more … for Malvern’s Parker Bowe

Malvern sophomore Parker Bowe kicked off a busy day by finishing second in the Division III boys shot put with a top throw of 60 feet, 1 inch. Later in the afternoon, he came in third in the discus at 174-8.

Minerva, Tusky Valley girls 3,200 relays make podium

The Minerva and Tusky Valley girls 3,200 relays kicked off the Division II running events with podium finishes.

Minerva’s Kayla Crissman, Annabelle Crissman, Hannah Ison finished fifth in 9:42.10. Tusky Valley’s Sami Ward, Hayden Huffman, Trista Lieser and Josie Eick came in seventh in 9:43.57.

The Lions also came in 15th in the boys 3,200 relay.

Likely 2:30 restart for OHSAA State Track and Field Championships

Spectators are expected to be allowed to reenter the stadium shortly.

We’re hearing that the meet will restart at 2:30. That will delay the start of the Division I runing events which were scheduled to begin at 4:30.

Weather delay hits before start of Division II running events

A weather delay has suspended the meet shortly before the start of the Division II running events. Some Division III field events were underway before the meet was delayed.

Marlington’s Cameron Evanich starts busy day with a podium finish

A career-best jump of 22 feet, 4.5 inches helped Marlington’s Cameron Evanich a fifth-place finish in the Division II boys long jump.

Evanich passed on his final two attempts in the finals. While awaiting his medal, he was icing a sore hamstring. He is scheduled to run the 200 and 400 prelims later today.

Fairless’ Owen Kornish comes in 14th in Division II boys shot put

The first area result of the meet comes from Fairless thrower Owen Kornish. He finished 14th in the Division II boys shot put with a throw of 47 feet, 11.5 inches.

Kornish’s top throw came on his first attempt.
