Mikey Proctor with the dagger for Crestview

That’s probably the dagger.

On third-and-3 from the 50, Mikey Proctor got past the edge defender and takes off down the left sideline for the touchdown run. It’s 42-20 Crestview with 2:38 remaining.

Garfield draws within two touchdowns

The G-Men force a fumble, recovered by Logan Sell. Then, on third-and-7, what a trick play from Garfield as Jack Neikirk fires the backward pass to Collin McGranahan, who immediately fires a deep ball to Colton Miller for the 24-yard touchdown.

It’s 35-20 Crestview with 9:12 remaining.

Devin Bates ends the third quarter on a high note

A highlight for the G-Men to end the third quarter as Devin Bates spins through a hit for a 19-yard touchdown run. It’s 35-12 Crestview.

Second turnover helps Crestview expand lead

Bad turns to worse for the G-Men.

A holding call puts them in a bind (second-and-20). They go into a passing formation and the quarterback is engulfed. Four defensive linemen on him to force a fumble. Crestview takes over at the Garfield 11 and Jake Noling punches it in from six yards out.

It’s 28-6 Crestview with 5:32 left in the third.

Mikey Proctor scores third touchdown to start second half

Huge drive by the Rebels to start the second half and take a 21-6 lead with 7:40 left in the third.

On second-and-goal, Mikey Proctor running to the short side where Crestview had three receivers. A lot of traffic but Proctor able to break a tackle around the line of scrimmage and spin past the left pylon for the four-yard touchdown run.

Crestview up eight at the half

Great game at the half. A very quick half, too. Just 46 minutes. It’s 14-6 Crestview and the Rebels get the ball to start the second half.

Mikey Proctor had both touchdowns for Crestview on runs of 16 and five yards. Ryder Cain had Garfield’s lone score as he crashed through the middle on fourth-and-goal.

Let’s look at the G-Men’s halftime stats. They’ve run for 132 yards on 21 carries. That’s 6.3 yards per carry. That’s great for almost any team out there but way under Garfield’s season average. I think Crestview’s got to be happy with that number. Ryder Cain with six carries and 63 yards to lead the G-Men at the half.

As for the Rebels, they’ve passed the ball a ton this season but not tonight. Just two passes at the half. But they’ve run it 19 times for 122 yards. Jake Noling with seven carries for 68 yards and Proctor with 10 carries for 48.

Crestview’s Mikey Proctor scores his second touchdown

On first-and-goal, Mikey Proctor takes off outside left, then circles back into the A gap for the five-yard touchdown run and a 14-6 Crestview lead with 3:40 left in the first half.

Great chess match here. The G-Men biting hard on those handoffs and the Rebels countering with fake handoffs leading to Jake Noling keepers for good yardage.

Ryder Cain runs it in on fourth and goal

The G-Men fooled me and apparently they fooled the Rebels on that fourth-and-goal carry. It looked like the ball was going to Devin Bates. Instead, it’s Ryder Cain racing up the middle for the one-yard touchdown. The kick is no good. It’s 7-6 Crestview with 11:57 left in the first half.

Garfield with a big chance to tie

We’ll open the second quarter with a HUGE play.

Devin Bates plunged all the way to the threshold of the end zone to end the first quarter. It’s fourth-and-goal from maybe an inch or two out.

It’s 7-0 Crestview after a quarter.

Crestview capitalizes with Mikey Proctor touchdown

The Rebels take advantage of that big call as Mikey Proctor sprints up the gut for a 16-yard touchdown run on second-and-12.

That’s an 11-play, 61-yard drive.

It’s 7-0 Crestview with 4:34 left in the first quarter.

Rebels get a big early call

The Rebels stopped the G-Men on a fourth-and-4 run from the Crestview 41.

Garfield had the chance to do the same on fourth-and-9 from the G-Men 27. Jake Noling tosses a deep ball down the right sideline and draws the pass interference call.

It’s first-and-10 Crestview at the Garfield 13. We’re scoreless with 5:09 left in the opening quarter.
