Ohio State golfer qualifies for US Women's Open, another an alternate

Veronika Kedronova was the only golfer to shoot under par during a one-day, 36-hole U.S. Open qualifier at the New Albany Country Club on May 4.

She was 1 under, while Nellie Ong shot an even-par 144 to advance to the U.S. Women’s Open at The Riviera Country Club June 4-7 in Los Angeles.

Kedronova, a Czechian who competes at Kent State and was named the 2024-25 MAC Golfer of the Year, had seven birdies through her two rounds.

Ong, a sophomore at Ohio State from Norwich, England, carded six birdies and avoided any double bogies.

Former Buckeye Faith Choi and OSU freshman Matilde Santilli finished 3 over and were named the U.S. Open alternates coming out of the New Albany event.
