It’s Week 2 of the Ohio high school football season, and we already have our first big game between Akron-area teams.
It will be a battle of Suburban League elite when Highland hosts Hudson. The Hornets are coming off a 49-10 win over McDowell (Pa.) and the Explorers impressed in a 28-14 win over 2024 regional semifinalist Austintown Fitch.
In addition to 24 games Friday, Aug. 29, two more games are set for Saturday, Aug. 30. Friday’s slate would have been 25 games, but the scheduled game between Garfield and Revere was canceled after Revere reported two confirmed cases of hand, foot and mouth disease. It’s the second consecutive week an Akron-area game was canceled because of HFMD.
