Police believe at least two people exchanged gunfire, sending festivalgoers running for cover and leaving a dozen people wounded. Here’s what we know and what we don’t know about the incident.

What happened in Toledo?

Toledo police responded around 5:37 p.m. June 6 to reports of a shooting in the northern part of the city near the Old West End Festival.

Some witnesses have told media outlets the violence appears to have begun as a fight involving teenagers before escalating into gunfire. Police believe at least two people fired shots at one another.

The shooting occurred during one of northwest Ohio’s largest neighborhood festivals, drawing an immediate response from law enforcement and emergency personnel.

Festival organizers later canceled activities scheduled for June 7.

What do we know about the victims?

Twelve people were injured in the shooting.

In a June 7 Facebook post, Toledo police said all 12 victims were in stable condition and continuing to improve.

Police have not publicly identified those who were injured. According to statements made by Lt. Dan Gerken of the Toledo Police Department, the ages of the victims range from 14 to 61 years old.

No fatalities have been reported.

What videos have surfaced online?

Several videos showing the moments surrounding the shooting have circulated widely on social media.

With no arrests announced as of June 8, authorities are asking the hundreds of people who attended the festival to help investigators. Authorities are urging witnesses to come forward with photos or video from the scene as detectives work to identify suspects and determine what led to the shooting.

What don’t we know?

Investigators have not publicly identified any suspects.

Police have also not announced a motive and have not said what sparked the initial confrontation beyond describing it as a fight that escalated into gunfire.

It remains unclear whether the suspects knew one another, whether additional people were involved, or whether any of the victims were intended targets.

Authorities have not released information about the weapons used.

What is the latest update?

As of midday June 8, no arrests had been made.

Toledo City Council President Vanice Williams has urged the public to assist investigators, calling on the hundreds of people who were in attendance to come forward with information.

“The mass shooting this past Saturday, June 6, 2026 was one of the most horrifying events to happen to our City. We stand united to heal and come back from this stronger,” Williams said in a Facebook statement.

“This incident does not define our community. We call on those that have any information please come forward.”

Toledo police are expected to hold another press conference scheduled for 10 a.m. June 9. The briefing is expected to include representatives from Toledo City Council, the mayor’s office, the city’s public safety department, the Toledo Police Department, the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, Lucas County commissioners and the Old West End Festival.
