What to know about the Newport Residence Inn

A Cincinnati-based developer is bringing a new Residence Inn by Marriott to a vacant parcel in the heart of Newport.

Subhas Patel, principal at Keystone Hotel Group, is leading the project, which will include a seven-story hotel and an elevated parking deck.

The site sits east of the roundabout connecting Kentucky Route 9, West Third Street, West Fourth Street and Ovation Way, directly south of Corporex’s Ovation development.

The project is not receiving city incentives such as a tax abatement or tax increment financing. Construction is well underway, with completion and opening set for the first half of 2027.

Stonehenge Building Group is serving as the general contractor. The development team did not disclose the architect or total project cost.

Keystone leads the hotel boom in Greater Cincinnati

Keystone Hotel Group’s growing portfolio includes more than a dozen properties across the region, including another Residence Inn in Mason that is similar in design to the hotel going up in Newport.

The Newport location is Keystone’s first project in the city.

“We’re excited to be developing a hotel in Newport with all the growth there is there,’’ Patel told The Enquirer, citing the Ovation development, Newport on the Levee and other nearby attractions. “We’re happy to have a great brand and a great facility in a great location.”

In addition, the firm recently opened a Home2 Suites at Oakley Station and is redeveloping the former Chong Building in downtown Cincinnati into another Home2 Suites.
