Richfield is one of three Ohio locations where a transportation company plans to open up locations through the Ohio Tax Credit Authority
AAA Cooper Transportation expects to create 210 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $14.7 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in Columbus, Richfield and Toledo, according to Gov. Mike DeWine’s office. AAA Cooper, which is headquartered in Dothan, Alabama, provides logistics, transportation, and distribution services.
The proposed project will result in a new location to expand the company’s transportation and logistics operations as it aims to grow its national network of service centers/fleet maintenance shops.
The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 1.668%, 9-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project in early March.
Richfield Mayor Michael Wheeler said that AAA Cooper will eventually move into the space transportation company Estes occupies on Brecksville Road. Estes will move to the space previously occupied by Yellow Freight on Brecksville Road, which filed bankruptcy in summer 2023.
Wheeler said AAA Cooper coming in was “an absolute positive” for the community.
“AAA Cooper is a good company,” Wheeler said. “We are a huge hub for shipping. Trucking has really increased, especially with COVID.”
Representatives from AAA Cooper could not be reached for comment.
