A Northern Kentucky University student missing since late April has been found dead in Wilder, police said Sunday.
The body of Murry Foust, 22, was found by an independently organized search party, according to the Wilder Police Department.
Foust’s body was found at Newport Steel at 1 Steel Plant Road in Wilder on May 24, according to the Campbell County Coroner’s Office.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the Foust family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” the police department said in a post on social media. “While we are saddened by this loss, we hope this development can provide the family with some answers and a measure of closure.”
There are currently no indications of foul play, according to police.
“We are heartbroken by the death of our student,” officials at NKU said in a statement. “This is a profound loss for our campus community.”
The Covington Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and Evidence Collection Unit are actively investigating the scene in collaboration with the Wilder Police Department and the Campbell County Coroner’s Office.
The official cause and manner of death will be determined by the coroner’s office. No additional details will be released until that determination has been made, police said.
Foust was set to graduate on May 9. A moment of silence was observed at NKU’s graduation ceremony that day instead.
Family, friends and members of the community organized searches for Foust since they were reported missing.
Bee Wang, a friend of Foust, previously described them as a “light to the community.”
“They make you feel like they’re thrilled to be in your presence, and it makes you feel thrilled to be in their presence,” Wang said.
