Chiara Power will present “Women in Pants: Bicycles, Bloomers and the New Woman of the 1890s” at the May 26 Brown Bag Lunch at the Massillon Museum.
The free program will begin at 12:10 p.m.
Brown Bag Lunch events are open to everyone with no reservations required. American Sign Language interpretation is provided by Triad Deaf Services, with a grant from Disabled American Veterans. Guests are invited to bring sack lunches or purchase lunch at the TWiLite Café in the lobby, which offers smoothies, sandwiches, paninis, salads, soup and bakery treats. MassMu provides complimentary cookies and coffee.
Power became MassMu’s collections manager and registrar in 2025. Before moving to Massillon, she lived in Waterloo, Montreal, Halifax and Edmonton in Canada. She holds a bachelor’s degree in history and costume studies from Dalhousie University (Halifax) and a master’s degree in material culture from the University of Alberta.
The Massillon Museum receives ArtsBuild funding from ArtsinStark, made possible by ArtsinStark’s annual Campaign for the Arts. Guests can see Ariella Har-Even: Across the Ashen River, The First: A State Title for Massillon Basketball, Play Like a Girl: Flag Football in the City of Champions, Introducing Massillon Community Arts Council: Creativity within Community, and permanent collection galleries before and after the lunch. Exhibitions can be viewed 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The building is accessible and everyone is welcome.
