Former Ohio State standout and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is receiving criticism for dropping multiple passes against the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 21.
Fans are taking to social media to express their disdain for Harrison Jr., who had two drops that got the interest of the internet.
Though Harrison led all Cardinals receivers in yards against the Niners, he only had three receptions for 44 yards on six targets. The most-criticized drop came during a deep gain opportunity in blown coverage for the wide receiver, who dropped the ball with no defenders nearby.
His second drop came during a potential scoring situation for the Cardinals. Harrison Jr. managed to get free in the endzone, but could not haul in the catch for the touchdown. The Cardinals scored a touchdown later on the same drive, but ended up losing the game 16-15.
Harrison Jr. was asked about his drops in tue a post-game interview.
“I know what I’m capable of,” Harrison told azcentral.com. “To go out there and not play to anywhere near the best of my abilities is frustrating. It hurts your team. And I’ve gotta get better.”
