The architect of an Ohio girls lacrosse power is stepping aside at the height of his program’s achievements.
Citing personal and work commitments, Olentangy Liberty coach Tim Bosco told The Dispatch he is resigning after a seven-season run that has seen the Patriots progress from regional contender to three-time defending Division I state champions.
Bosco’s teams never won fewer than 12 games in a season, and the past four have won 20 or more, including this spring’s squad that went 20-3, won its final 14 games and 15 of its last 16 and held off OCC-Central rival Upper Arlington 9-8 in the state final June 7. The two teams have met in four straight championship games.
Overall, Bosco went 124-32 with the Patriots.
“[We] built a culture based on commitment, hard work and being a great teammate,” Bosco said. “[We] had a philosophy of playing the best teams to be the best and those early teams had some rough times but learned how to win and compete.
“Players bought into the values of the program and started believing they could compete against anyone. The team developed a ‘refuse to lose’ mindset that has elevated the program to where it is today.”
Liberty has reached at least a regional final in five consecutive seasons.
