Only 28 players in MLB history are members of the 500 home run club, including local legend Ken Griffey Jr.
The National Baseball Hall of Famer, former Moeller High School standout and Cincinnati Reds outfielder logged his 500th career home run on Father’s Day, June 20, 2004, in front of his father and family.
His historic hit helped the Reds clinch a 6-0 win over St. Louis.
Griffey Jr. hit 630 career home runs over his 22-year career – the seventh-most in MLB history.
