The morning traffic anchor at “Good Day Columbus” will take on a new role after eight years.
As many have been waking up to Katie McKee’s morning report of local traffic conditions on the central Ohio news show, viewers will now get to see her alongside Kurt Ludlow — a seat that previously belonged to anchor Jessica Ralston.
WSYX-TV announced July 18 McKee’s promotion to anchor “Good Day Columbus” a month after her eighth anniversary with the company. McKee will anchor from 4:25 a.m. to 9 a.m. with Ludlow and will also continue to host “Good Day Columbus” at 9 a.m. on FOX 28 with Phil Kelly.
McKee began temporarily filling Ralston’s anchor position in January after her switch to the evening anchor desk. Now, the seat officially belongs to McKee.
“We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Katie McKee,” said Nicole Hogensen, news director for ABC 6/FOX 28, in a press release.
“Katie brings both experience and heart to ‘Good Day Columbus.’ Our viewers know and trust Katie, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.”
McKee also announced her transition in a Facebook post at 6 a.m. on July 18.
McKee is a native to Springfield and an Ohio University alumna. She has spent her career working at FOX affiliate companies in South Carolina and Florida before joining WSYX in 2017.
